San Marino all in blue kick off against England all in red. No seven-second goal for San Marino this time, as they managed in 1993 through Davide Gualtieri.

With a capacity of just over 5000 at the Stadio Olimpico in Serravalle, some England fans are having to improvise.

San Marino, ranked 193 in the world, are true minnows but they did secure a goalless draw with Estonia in November, the first time in 60 attempts they have secured a point from a Uefa qualifying match.

Hodgson says the match is an ideal opportunity to see Stones, Shelvey and Vardy in action in a competitive match.
"It is important for me to give them this opportunity to play for England from the start, rather than coming on as a substitute when the game is over,” he told BBC Sport.
"If they weren't going to get a start in a game where we are expected to win, then I don't know when the next opportunity would have come around.”

Wayne Rooney will become England's all-time highest goalscorer, beating Sir Bobby Charlton's record of 49, if he scores two or more goals against San Marino. However, when ITV asked Sir Alex Ferguson whether Rooney would win a trophy with England, the former Manchester United boss seemed sceptical!

Hodgson says Shelvey fully deserves his recall after his recent good form for Swansea. It’s not unusual it’s taken him a while to reach the level we knew he could reach. He’s still on 22, but he can look forward to a long England career if he continues the progress he’s been making at Swansea,” he said.

Swansea's Jonjo Shelvey win his second cap, almost three years after his debut against San Marino, while Everton's John Stones makes his fifth appearance for the national side.
    16:30
After Hodgson suggested in a light-hearted quip that England's Ashes-winning cricketers could play against the part-timers, Manzaroli said: "We are much smaller than England but we deserve respect like any country. I think it was a bit too much, too heavy, with what he said. It was very strong. Bad."
    16:25
The two coaches seem to have made up, after San Marino boss Pierangelo Manzaroli took exception during the week to some jokey remarks Roy Hodgson made to the England cricket team.
    16:20
England, with six wins from six matches so far in the group, will qualify for next summer's European Championships in France with a victory over the Sammarinese. Slovenia meet Switzerland at St Jakob Park in Basel later in the evening, but can only reach 21 points even if they beat the Swiss, and they have an inferior head-to-head record against England.
