FULL TIME: Spurs fight back from 2-0 down to draw with Basel but have the home leg to come, plus injuries to Lennon Gallas and especially Bale to worry about.

Bale is stretchered off and looks in a lot of pain. This isn't just a precaution. We've had all three minutes but only played about 30 seconds so Spurs have to see out the rest with nine men.

Replays show he jarred both legs one after the other going into a slide challenge very awkwardly.

Gallas is struggling again - he has played hurt for most of the match - and he retreats to the dressing room for treatment meaning Tottenham have a few minutes to see out with 10 men.

Basel are now slowing down the play and using midfield more now than ever. With the home lef to come, they will be happy to settle for 2-2 rather than take a silly risk and be 3-2 down from 2-0 up.

And yes, that is the twin brother of the ex-Liverpool player Philipp.

Final sub from Basel. The lively Salah is off, David Degen, a regular who was benched due to a niggling injury, comes on for six minutes.

The excellent Stocker forces two brave blocks from Gallas and then Parker before El-Nenny skies the loose ball over.

Dempsey thinks he has won a corner off Steinhofer, but it's a throw. Nonetheless Bale absolutely Delaps it into the danger zone where Sigurdsson forces Sommer into action.

Steinhofer chips the free-kick towards the crowded box, Tottenham clear.

Gallas is a bit lucky not to get a second yellow as he slyly pulls back Zoua, who is trying to latch onto a lofted pass forward.

Steinhofer is set free on the right by Salah and cut backs to Zoua, 15 yards from the near post, but he had the space to take a touch, instead sending a first-timed well off-target.

Those fans will be confident of a good result at home in the second leg, on this evidence.

Salah is bringing the away fans nearby to life with trickery near the corner flag, evading two Spurs players before Bale joins in to finally win the ball back.

The away side almost exploit space behind the Spurs back line again, but a cut-back from the right is cut back a little too much, where Voser blazes well over from 25.

Basel make their second change as Jacques Zoua comes on for Streller.
