Southampton boss Ronald Koeman knows plenty about the club his side have been paired with in the battle for Europa League qualification - after all, he did work at Vitesse for one season back in 2000. The Saints were among the seeds in the draw so they can count themselves unfortunate to come up against a side that finished fifth in the Eredivise last season. A tough task, no doubt, but Koeman has been impressed with his team’s performances in pre-season and will be pretty confident of getting a good result to bring to Holland on August 6.

Three new signings take their place in Ronald Koeman’s starting eleven - midfielder Jordy Clasie, right back Cedric Soares, and Maarten Stekelenburg in goal are all involved from the start while Cuco Martina and Juanmi are on the bench. There is no place in the squad for Jay Rodriguez who was expected to make an appearance this evening for the first time since 2014.
