Europa League round-up: Juventus and Feyenoord earn slender first-leg leads as Bayer Leverkusen rescue draw

Feyenoord and Juventus will take 1-0 leads into their second-leg ties in the Europa League quarter-finals. Feyenoord got the better of Roma, while Juventus beat Sporting Lisbon. In the Europa Conference League, Fiorentina beat Lech Poznan 4-1, Anderlecht had a 2-0 win over AZ, with FC Basel and Nice drawing 2-2 on an eventful Thursday night.

Feyenoord will take an advantage to the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Roma after securing a narrow 1-0 win against Jose Mourinho’s side at De Kuip.
Mats Wieferr grabbed the only goal of the game on 53 minutes. The newly capped Netherlands international met a Oussama Idrissi centre on the volley from the edge of the area to give Arne Slot’s side the lead.
Roma will rue Lorenzo Pellegrini’s first-half penalty miss and also the loss of Paulo Dybala and Tammy Abraham to injury.
The win extends Feyenoord’s unbeaten streak at home to 14 games.
Juventus emerged from their match with Sporting Lisbon with a 1-0 victory.
Federico Gatti grabbed the winner on 73 minutes, slotting home from close range after Sebastian Coates' clearance off the line from a Dusan Vlahovic effort fell to the defender.
The game was notable for an incident with Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny who had to leave the field of play in the first half clutching his chest. Reports suggested that the was struggling to breathe but Juventus would later tweet that he was "doing well" after tests.
Elsewhere, Union SG, sat second in the Belgian First Division A, drew 1-1 with Bayer Leverkusen.
Victor Boniface received the ball on the edge of the box, opened his body up to curl an effort in at the far post beyond the reach of Lukas Hradecky to score in the 51st minute for the away side.
However, Florian Wirtz equalised with eight minutes to go to leave the tie finely poised.
Manchester United appeared to be heading for a 2-0 win before own goals from Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire saw Sevilla peg the Premier League side back in a dramatic ending at Old Trafford.
In the Europa Conference League, Jonathan Ikone scored the goal of the night when he ran from just insider his own half before passing the ball into the net to score the fourth goal in his Fiorentina side's 4-1 win over Lech Poznan.
Poznan's Kristoffer Velde cancelled out Arthur Cabral's opener for the visitors, but from there Vincenzo Italiano's side ran away with the match and probably the tie. Nicolas Gonzalez made it 2-1 on 41 minutes before efforts from Giacomo Bonaventura and Ikone after the interval put the match beyond doubt.
Goals from Michael Murillo and Majeed Ashimeru gave Anderlecht a 2-0 win over AZ Alkmaar, while braces from Zeki Amdouni and Terem Moffi saw FC Basel and Nice play out a 2-2 draw.
West Ham were fortunate to escape the Ghelamco Arena with a 1-1 draw against a dominant Gent.
