WHAT A WASTE
Milan win a free-kick 30 yards out and flood numbers forward for it, but it's laid off to Theo Hernandez for an attempt at a blockbuster long-range screamer...which doesn't beat the first man.

MILAN PUSHING
Better from Milan, who work it into the box from the right wing. Leao eventually attempts an ambitious overhead kick, which isheaded away, but they are at least applying a bit of pressure now.

PULISIC BOOKED
The first yellow of the night goes to the American, who trips El Shaarawy as he breaks upfield.

PELLEGRINI DOWN
The Roma captain requires some treatment after seemingly catching a hand in the eye during a challenge. He should be fine to continue.

MANCINI AT IT AGAIN
Roma have been the better side in the opening half hour, and Milan look a bit surprised by it all. Apart from one Reijnders effort, we've seen very little from a Rossoneri team that hasn't exactly been shy to attack recently.

ROMA ON THE CHARGE
El Shaarawy puts a wonderfully inviting ball into the six yard box from the right wing and Lukaku is going for it, but it comes off Gabbia instead, whose deflection is heading slowly towards his own net until Maignan scoops it up. A warning for MIlan that, who haven't really woken up yet tonight.

YOU SHALL NOT PASS
On second viewing, it was not just one but two goalline clearances from Lukaku at that corner. Not a man known for his defending, but he did superbly there.

MILAN CLOSE!
Milan almost equalise from a corner of their own, with Lukaku coming to Roma's rescue by heading a Giroud header clear off the line!
There was a bit of pinball for that set piece, and the following one, but the visitors eventually manage to clear their lines and hang on.

GOAL! MILAN 0-1 ROMA (MANCINI)
It's him again! In almost a copy and paste goal from the Rome Derby last weekend, Dybala swings in a corner and Mancin finds space six yards out to nod it into the bottom corner! Advantage Roma early on, and they deserve it.
Two goals in two games from the big centre-back.

EL SHAARAWY CLOSE!
Lukaku finds some space down the right and pulls a cross back to El Shaarawy, whose first-time effort takes a wicked deflection and requires a superb flying save from Maignan to palm it over! Fantastic reflexes from the MIlan man.
13'
REIJNDERS DOWN
Play is stopped as the MIlan midfielder writhes around in pain. He's receiving treatment after being caught while making a challenge.
9'
MILAN CHANCE!
Just as we say that, Milan come to life. Reijnders gets the first shot on target of the game, testing Svilar with a shot from outside the box that forces a good diving save from the Roma keeper.
8'
NEW-LOOK ROMA
De Rossi has taken Pioli by surprise a bit here. Roma's 4-4-2 is brand new, with Pellegrini playing wide left. El Shaarawy out on the right, and Dybala drifting around here there and everywhere.
6'
GOOD START FOR ROMA
Pellegrini tries to get a shot away on the turn, but he's off balance and it flies well over. Roma have made the brighter start here.
5'
EARLY DYBALA SIGHTER
Roma with plenty of possession early on and they work it into the box nicely, but Dybala's chipped shot is tame and glides over.
2'
EL SHAARAWY SWITCHES WINGS
There's a bit of a tactical oddity that is immediately evident in the Roma team, with El Shaarawy lining up on the right rather than his usual left-wing spot.

Magic Mike is ready...are you? We'll have the ball rolling very soon.

HOW DID WE GET HERE?
This is admittedly not where Milan had hoped to end up when the season started, as they started off in the Champions League before finishing third in the ‘group of death’ with Borussia Dortmund, PSG and Newcastle to drop into the Europa League.
They then cruised past Rennes 5-3 and Slavia Prague 7-3 to set up this tie against a Roma side that has taken a different route.
After coming second in their group behind Slavia, Roma squeaked past Feyenoord on penalties in the playoff round before hammering Brighton 4-1 on aggregate in a last 16 tie that in all honesty was over before the second leg after a 4-0 thumping in Rome.
