Bayer Leverkusen 2-2 AS Roma: UEFA Europa League result as Josip Stanisic scores late equaliser to extend unbeaten run and send Leverkusen to final

Josip Stanisic scored a 97th-minute equaliser as Bayer Leverkusen earned a dramatic 2-2 draw at home against Roma to seal their spot in the UEFA Europa League final and keep their invincible treble dream alive.

Roma threatened to disrupt the Leverkusen party when Leandro Paredes put the Italians ahead from the spot in the first half before he scored a second penalty after the break to level the tie.

But a Gianluca Mancini own goal gave the hosts a chance to protect their incredible unbeaten run this season, which looked to be over until Stanisic drilled home a last-gasp effort to level the match.

Leverkusen won the tie 3-2 on aggregate and are now unbeaten in 49 games, which has bettered the longest unbeaten run since the advent of European competition, overtaking Benfica's effort set between 1963 and 1965.

Xabi Alonso’s side will face fellow Serie A outfit Atalanta in the final in Dublin after they beat Marseille 3-0 on Thursday and 4-1 on aggregate.

Joe Cole hails the "incredible feat" set by Leverkusen.

"Look at the celebration and what it means to them to keep this run going," he told TNT Sports. "What we're seeing here is an incredible feat.

"If they were in the Champions League final, I'd back them."
