Walcott shows tremendous pace down the left to nick the ball ahead of two Brighton defenders – he is fouled but gets up, runs into the box and Ankergren has to push his effort away for a corner.

Brighton could make a case that it should not have been a corner but rather a free-kick for them as Giroud's effort might have been seen by some referees as dangerous play.

ARSENAL HAVE THE LEAD!!! Brighton have defended corners so well but now they have conceded from one. Ankergren punched clear but only to the edge of the area – Walcott volleyed it back towards goal but it takes a bit deflection of El-Abd's shoulder and nestles into the corner of the net.

Giroud now tries a spectacular overhead kick but it deflects wide for a corner.

LuaLua whips in a superb cross from the left with his right. Flies past everyone though! Arsenal have not convinced defending crosses today.

Giroud close again….Wilshere puts Podolski free down the left the German then cuts it back for Giroud but the French striker is a little off balance and fires into the ground which sees the ball loop over.

Jenkinson with a chance to cross from the right but it just curls a little too far away from Podolski.

Ramsey is furious with himself as he gives the ball away in an attacking area.

Arsenal have been wasteful with their corners today. Jack Wilshere with two poor back-to-back efforts there.

Decent free-kick from Giroud but it just doesn't quite drop down in time and goes over the bar.
