This is Colombia's first appearance in the World Cup, however their performances in the South American Women's Football Championship has been steadily improving resulting in them finishing second behind Brazil in last year's tournament in Ecuador.

The Swedes have qualified for every single edition of the Women's World Cup so far, with their best result coming in 2003 when they finished as runners up, narrowly losing out to Germany in extra-time in the final
