Laporte's decision to swap France for Spain was a big boost to the latter's chances at these Euros, although Enrique won't have much time to integrate him into the team.

That disallowed goal was a let off for Spain. Portugal worked the corner kick well and Fonte got up well to get on the end of the cross. But he had his arms on the defender.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... NO! Fonte gets up highest to head back across goal and into the far corner of the net, but the referee has blown for a push. Foul awarded to Spain!

Good run from Sanches through the middle of the pitch, but the former Bayern Munich midfielder takes on a bit too much and is ultimately knocked off the ball. Encouraging for Portugal.

Dias has enjoyed an excellent season for Manchester City and he will be a key figure for Portugal at Euro 2020. His emergence is one of the reasons why Portugal are contenders.

No sign of Dias for Portugal this evening either. The Manchester City centre back has been given some extra rest after playing in last weekend's Champions League final.

Spain have had a massive 75% of possession in these opening 20 minutes or so. They have been dominant in the opening stages, although Portugal are inviting pressure on top of themselves.

No sign of Fernandes for Portugal this evening. The Manchester United midfielder is out with a minor injury, but he's not expected to be a doubt for the start of the Euros.

This is a Portugal side with a lot of quality. Ronaldo is still the main man in attack, the man who sets the tone for everyone around him, but he’s supported by Fernandes and more.

Ronaldo is already unhappy with the way his teammates are playing. He clearly thinks Portugal have made a poor start to this match and he wants to see more from them.

What a season Llorente has had for Atletico Madrid. He was key to their title triumph and will almost certainly play an important role for Spain at these European Championships.

One-two! Great passing move from the Spanish attack inside the Portuguese penalty area, but the cut-back from Llorente couldn't find someone in the middle. Good idea!

Spain have started on the front foot. They are the ones looking to take the game to the opposition, although Portugal will be quite content with how they are restricting Spain.

Good tackle! Torres has started brightly here, he drives towards the edge of the Portugal penalty area, but Fonte stands his ground and makes the well-timed slide tackle!

Portugal come into the Euros as the defending champions having triumphed in France five years ago. The thing about Santos’ team is that they look even stronger than they were then!
