Netherlands v Scotland – friendly result as Reijnders, Wijnaldum, Malen and Weghorst all net for hosts

Scotland were punished for not taking their chances as a clinical display by the Netherlands saw the host run out convincing winners.

AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders netted a fine strike with the hosts only chance of the first half, as Ryan Christie rattled the bar at the opposite end.

Steve Clarke’s side started strong in the second half as Christie headed wide from a promising position and then marksman Lawrence Shankland rattled the crossbar.

However, Scotland were again hit by their clinical hosts as Georginio Wijnaldum headed home with 18 minutes left on the clock.

As both sides made a host of changes the Netherlands took hold as substitutes Donyell Malen and Wout Weghorst completed the victory.

Malen almost beats the off-side trap again, but this time the flag goes go up as the sides enter three additional minutes.

For all their brilliant work in Amsterdam the end result will be a sorry one for Scotland.

The Netherlands have been utterly clinical and if Scotland had take all their chances it could be 4-4.

Substitute Weghorst is at the back of a pack of players and rises high to head home from a corner.

That effort is Gakpo’s final as he is replaced by Blind

Netherlands again come forward with Malen having an effort blocked and then Gakpo fires an effort just wide of the post

McTominay is free inside the box and meets McGinn’s cross but under pressure heads just wide of the post with the goalkeeper beaten
