A 21st goal of the season for Lautaro Martinez was enough to determine the destination of the Italian Super Cup, as Internazionale edged to a 1-0 win over 10-man Napoli, who had Giovanni Simeone sent off on the hour mark. Martinez converted from Benjamin Pavard's cross in injury-time, to ensure Simone Inzaghi's side defended the trophy they have now won in three successive seasons.

Lautaro Martinez's last-gasp strike earned defending Italian Super Cup champions Internazionale a 1-0 win over 10-man Napoli as they lifted the trophy for a third year running.
With the game at the Al-Awwal Stadium in Saudi Arabia petering out towards penalties, the Argentinian striker popped up in the area to fire home a 91st-minute winner after a sustained spell of pressure.
Chances were at a premium before the break, with Hakan Calhanoglu and Henrikh Mkhitaryan wasting the best of them for Simone Inzaghi's side, as the former had an effort saved, while the latter fired wide.
Martinez also had the ball in the back of the net, although the striker was ruled out for offside.
Napoli, on the other hand, failed to land a single shot on target during the first half, and their task was made even harder on the hour mark when Giovanni Simeone received his marching orders as he was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Francesco Acerbi.
In response to going down to 10 men, Walter Mazzarri ordered his side to sit back and soak up the pressure, and that made them tough to break down.
Inter still created a handful of openings though, with Marcus Thuram blazing wide when unmarked at the back post, before Marko Arnautovic was denied by goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.
It looked like a shoot-out would be required to decide the destination of the trophy, but Martinez had other ideas, as he converted from Benjamin Pavard's low cross, smashing into the back of the net from the edge of the six-yard box.
That paved the way for Martinez to lift the trophy himself, as Inter celebrated an eighth Super Cup title, one short of Juventus' record haul of nine.
