BARCA IN FINE DOMESTIC FORM
Barcelona are 10 games undefeated in La Liga, winning eight of them.

BARCELONA'S MOST IMPORTANT GAME OF THE SEASON
That's according to the manager. "For us it's the most important game of the season, we have to win to put pressure on the leader," Xavi said pre-game.
"We have enormous respect for Real Madrid, they've lost just one game out of 31, their numbers are extraordinary. We don't have bad numbers in La Liga, we've got four points less than when we were leaders [at this stage] last season."

WHAT HAPPENED IN THEIR EARLIER MEETINGS THIS SEASON?
Madrid won 2-1 when the teams played in Barcelona. Bellingham scored twice as Los Blancos came back from a goal down.
Madrid were even bigger winners when the sides met in the Supercopa in Saudi Arabia, triumphing 4-1 thanks to a Vinicius hat-trick and a Rodrygo goal.

ANCELOTTI ACKNOWLEDGES WHAT A WIN WOULD MEAN
"If we manage to win it, we'll be within touching distance of La Liga," Real Madrid manager Ancelotti said when previewing this game. That's obviously true but still refreshing to hear a manager actually say.
"We're playing against highly competitive opposition who have played brilliantly in recent games. It will be a hard-fought and evenly-matched Clasico, as they always are. It's a great opportunity to move closer to the La Liga title but we know how difficult it will be because Barcelona are still very much in it."
There was also some praise for Barcelona's younger stars.
"Lamine and Cubarsi have surprised everyone and they're doing a wonderful job," Ancelotti said. "They're very young and they have bright futures ahead of them."

HOME ADVANTAGE MAYBE NOT THE BIGGEST FACTOR
Of the last 10 league Clasicos at the Bernabeu, Barcelona have won six and Real Madrid four. There's been a red card in half of those games.

NO PEDRI FOR BARCA
He is only on the bench, so Andreas Christensen deputises in midfield. That is teh only change from midweek.
Joao Felix must make do with a place on the bench.
Barcelona: Ter stegen, Cancelo, Cubarsi, Araujo, Koude, Christensen, De Jong, Gundogan, Raphinha, Yamal, Lewandowski.

MADRID'S DEFENCE GIVEN A REFRESH
Carlo Ancelotti make three changes from the team that started in Manchester on Wednesday. Aurelien Tchouameni - suspended for that game - comes in to play centre-back, Lucas Vazquez will be on the right of the defence and Luka Modric's return means Eduardo Camavinga moves to left-back. Ferland Mendy, a fitness doubt, is on the bench.
The front three of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo are all into double figures for La Liga goals.
Real Madrid: Lunin, Vazquez, Rudiger, Tchouameni, Camavinga, Kroos, Modric, Valverde, Bellingham, Rodrygo, Vinicius.

A CRUCIAL CLASICO AWAITS
Welcome to live coverage of El Clasico. Top-of-the-table Real Madrid face bitter rivals Barcelona at the Bernabeu, knowing a win would surely secure the La Liga title. Even a draw would likely be enough, given they are eight points clear with just 18 left to play for after tonight.
For Barcelona, who went out of the UEFA Champions League in the week, this feels like the last time to save what has otherwise been a disappointing season - and perhaps convince Xavi to stay on as manager.
Add in the spice of Spanish football's most storied rivalry and there is a lot riding on this game. Kick-off is 45 minutes away.
