Good evening and welcome to LIVE coverage of Liverpool versus Arsenal. These two met here at Anfield just three days ago, with the hosts emphatic 3-1 winners. Funny things can happen in the Carabao Cup though and changes are expected, so there could be a different story tonight - and perhaps a goal-filled one, given the clubs played out a 5-5 draw in this competition a season ago. Team news is on the way...

A well-worked Arsenal set piece appears to leave Cedric in position to cross, but there was a foul somewhere in the middle.

Jota pushed Ceballos over. Not much there. Minamino is booked, however, for a cynical trip.

Ceballos down after an off-the-ball incident with Jota.
14'
Liverpool look to have won the ball back in a dangerous position but Minamino is penalised.
12'
Leno's weak punch from the next corner allows Liverpool to recycle possession and Jota sends in a well-hit cross, low, which Grujic cannot direct goalwards.
11'
Gabriel does well to head a Liverpool corner behind for another.
8'
Arsenal create the first good opening of the game, with Pepe getting in behind on the left. He cuts the ball back to Willock, who squares to an unmarked Nketiah, eight yards out, but Nketiah want too much time and tries to round Adrian, only for the goalkeeper to get a hand on the ball. It eventually falls to Cedric, who blazes over.

Liverpool play out from the back, but a poor touch from N. Williams gives Arsenal an attacking throw-in.
4'
N. Williams gets forward for the first time and crossed from the right, but Gabriel clears.

The Gunners have won only two of the last 13 meetings between the clubs, but they do represent two of the last three. Arsenal beat Liverpool towards the end of last season, when they had already secured the title, and won the Community Shield to start this campaign.

Arteta says he did not know what to expect from Liverpool in terms of team selection. There are "things that we have to adjust" compared to Monday, but the Arsenal boss believes that defeat was useful in showing the level you must be at to get a result at Anfield.
19:33
Salah looks "really good from a physical point of view", so that's why he starts, says Klopp in his pre-match TV interview. Van Dijk will hopefully be substituted at the break, he says, and adds that it could be a challenge for some players who are in unfamiliar positions.
19:30
It's already been quite a good day for Liverpool, if you take into account the Champions League draw, Ajax, Atalanta and Midtjylland makes for an exciting but not hugely daunting group. Manchester United got the group of death, which will please too.
19:25
These two produced a cracker in this competition last season, with penalties needed to decide a 5-5 draw.

Tonight is a big one for Minamino. With Liverpool's front three hard to dislodge, he needs to make the most of his chances in the cups - especially matches like this one against Premier Leaguue opposition, where anything he does will not be treated with an asterisk. Add in Jota - who already has more league goals for Liverpool than Minamino - and he is in danger of becoming written off as a squad player before his Liverpool career had a chance to get going.
19:17
A glorious goal from the early game. Brentford currently lead Fulham 3-0.
19:15
In fact, the Gunners’ last win here was so long ago - September 2012 - that Arteta was in the line-up. So too was current Liverpool player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
