COLE PALMER CONTINUES RED HOT FORM AS CHELSEA THRASH MIDDLESBROUGH TO SECURE PLACE IN LEAGUE CUP FINAL
Chelsea secured their place in the League Cup with an emphatic win 6-1 (6-2) win over Championship side Middlesbrough. The hosts went into the second leg looking to overturn a one-nil aggregate deficit but a rampant first half in which they scored four goals quickly put to bed any signs of an upset.
The Premier League side quickly asserted themselves and an unfortunate Johnny Howson own-goal started the rout before Enzo Fernandez added the second with a simple finish.
Disasi then scored his first goal for the blues after a quick counter-attack before a defensive mishap from Daniel Balasaar allowed Cole Palmer to continue his red form, scoring his tenth goal of the campaign.
Chelsea played the second half largely at a canter but still managed to catch Middlesbrough out two more times, who remained committed to playing out from the back. Palmer doubled his tally with a composed finished to score the fifth of the game while Madueke scored a deserved sixth goal with the help of a deflection.
Middlesbrough did give their travelling faithful something to remember as Morgan Rogers scored a fantastic strike from the edge of the box. His side will be hoping they can learn something from the experience and continue their surge up the Championship table.
Meanwhile Chelsea will advance to final as Pochettino eyes his first trophy for Chelsea and first in English football.

GOAL! CHELSEA 6-1 (6-2) MIDDLESBROUGH (ROGERS)
The Championship side do have their moment and it is quite a moment from Morgan Rogers. A wonderfully placed strike from the edge of the box into the bottom right corner that has given the away fans something to remember on the long journey back to Teeside

MIDDLESBROUGH ALMOST HAVE THEIR MOMENT
Middlesbrough almost had their moment as they put the ball into the net but Matt Crooks is deemed to be offside. Despite the flag the travelling supporters enjoyed it and are revelling in their trip to the capital.

GOAL! CHELSEA 6-0 (6-1) MIDDLESBROUGH (MADUEKE)
It's brutal from the blues, Chelsea again catch Middlesbrough in their own third. Madueke makes his way through the defensive before firing a curling shot which deflects into Middlesbrough net for a sixth time

MADUEKE LOOKING TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION
Chelsea have looked to play this second half at a canter but Maudeke has been a real live wire, he gets the ball out wide again, twists and turns before drilling a cross into the box which is cleared for a corner

MIDDLESBROUGH LIVING DANGEROUSLY
Middlesbrough's playing out from the back has already cost them this game and they almost paid another price. Glover plays a nervous pass and Sterling is on it in a flash. Luckily for Middlesbrough they escape with just giving away a corner

THE FIFTH FEELS INEVITABLE
Some more good football from Chelsea, first from Madueke who sips Gallagher through with a defence splitting pass but he can only win a corner. The resulting corner is cleared but Chelsea almost find another way through again with Madueke

MIDDLESBROUGH DOWN BUT NOT OUT
The away side may be well out of this tie by now but they're still sticking to their principles. They're playing out from the back and trying to press the Chelsea back line and creating a few half chances with Rogers having a shot blocked

INTENSITY DROPPING
With their foul goal cushion Chelsea have just taken their foot off the gas somewhat now. They're still well in control but are picking their moments, giving everyone plenty of touches on the ball

HIGH AND WIDE FROM ENZO
Another long period of sustained position for Chelsea as they are really controlling this game now. They work it forward nicely and the ball falls to the feet of Fernandez who's effort probably landed somewhere near row Z
