And now Atletico look like the better team. The flow of this game has swung back and forward, and we're only 35 minutes into the game!

What a poor effort! Costa and Luis combine brilliantly, with the fullback getting to the byline down the left wing to play the ball into the box. But after cutting it back for Garcia, the Spaniard skies it over the bar.

Athletic play the corner kick short, but whip the ball into the box from a further back position. However, despite Aduriz's aerial presence Courtois gets a little lucky and after a couple of bounces, he claims it.

Susaeta goes down under the challenge of Luis, but the referee waves away his claims for a freekick and awards a corner kick instead.

Costa is struggling to make the ball stick up front. When he gets the ball there are three Athletic players around him, crowding him out. That's a hallmark of both Valverde and Simeone's coaching.

The response over the last few minutes to conceding a goal has been somewhat solid by Athletic. They look more assured now. Panic over.

Koke plays a decent freekick into the box looking for Miranda, but the keeper comes off his line to gather. That was interesting, because the Athletic offside trap was broken by about three opposition players.

Balenziaga plays a cross into the box, but Sosa blocks it. However, he's paid a price for it as he's now down on the ground holding his groin. Yup, we feel you man. That was a sore one.

Athletic just need to settle themselves down now. Their passes are looking slightly ragged and their play in general isn't flowing like it was earlier in the half. They need to remember they're still level.

Atletico Madrid come forward down the right side, but when the ball comes into the box Costa clashes heads with Iraola and the freekick is given. That looked sore, although the striker looked to be going for the ball.

Garcia plays a corner kick to the front post but Suarez's flick-on is too strong and the ball sails over the bar.

Atletico Madrid had been pressuring Athletic in the last few minutes or so, but that goal was all Athletic's own making. The pass from Iturraspe that led to the goal was dreadful.

GOAL! Athletic Bilbao 1 Atletico Madrid 1 (21 mins - Diego Costa). Costa levels things up! Iturraspe's pass is cut out by Koke, with Costa sprinting away from San Jose. This time he makes no mistake in rolling the ball into the net.

Chance for Costa. The Brazilian born striker latches on to a chipped pass over the top of the Athletic defence, but San Jose recovers well to put pressure on him, forcing him to slice over the bar.

Although they're not creating much in the final third, Atletico are seeing more of the ball and are starting to impose themselves on the game. And when they start to do that, you should be worried.

Koke has a chance to play a freekick into the box but tries to be clever instead and plays a pass into an empty channel. Costa turns around and berates him teammate for not playing it in the box.

Of course, Atletico Madrid are without Arda Turan tonight and they're missing his creativity and tenacity in the line just behind Costa. Sosa and Suarez aren't really doing the job at the moment.

Aduriz is fouled by Miranda, and Athletic Bilbao have a good chance from a freekick, but in the end the set piece delivery is too strong and Courtois can gather with relative ease. Expected better.

This game has lived up to the billing so far. Both teams are playing at a frantic pace and are surging forward in numbers at the earliest possible opportunity. I expect more goals from this one.

And now Athletic come surging forward on the counter attack, but the pass for De Marcos doesn't come quick enough and Miranda comes across to make the interception.

What a save! Koke threads a wonderful ball for Costa to run onto. But from a one-on-one situation Iraizoz gets down well to make the save after spreading himself as much as possible. Great chance.
