In the end both teams are forced to settle for a point. The result doesn't really help Atletico much, who were looking at drawing level at the top of the table for much of the game. But even when they're not playing well Real Madrid are so dangerous.

Bale plays a driven freekick to the back post, where Pepe is situated but the defender's header across goal is claimed by Courtois, who rises higher than anyone else to take control.

So can either team find a winner in these few minutes of stoppage time? Real Madrid look more likely to do so, but Atletico Madrid still look very dangerous on the counter attack. Still could be some drama to come.

Huge block by Luis! Marcelo gets to the byline and squares the ball back to the edge of the six yard box. But with Ronaldo waiting for the ball to get to him Luis gets in to make a crucial tackle!

Ronaldo releases Benzema through on goal with a clever backheel but the French striker puts his shot straight into the keeper. The flag is up for offside but replays show he was in line with the last defender.

This game is so open now! First, slack defending from Real gives Costa the chance to knick in between the goalkeeper and defender but Pepe makes a last ditch challenge. And then Modric is presented with the chance to shoot from 20 yards but he lashes his effort over the bar!

All of a sudden the Vicente Calderon has fallen a little silent. Can Real Madrid now find a winner? They are the ones putting the pressure on in these final five minutes or so.

That's his 37th goal of the season for Real Madrid and he probably hasn't scored at a more important time for his team. That goal could keep Real Madrid clear at the top of La Liga.

Now Real Madrid and their coaches in the dugout are complaining that the ballboys are wasting time. That's the kind of game it has been!

Modric whips in a deep freekick, looking for Benzema and Ronaldo at the back post, but Courtois, one of the tallest keepers in Europe, stretches to claw the ball away from the Real Madrid players.

Indeed Los Blancos are starting to pin Atletico Madrid back in their own half, as the pressure on Courtois' goal builds. Can they find an equaliser? Ronaldo and Bale are trying their best to do just that.

Real Madrid flood forward on the attack, with Ronaldo playing Marcelo on the overlap. But there's nobody at the back post to get on the end of the Brazilian left back's cross.

Of course, Ancelotti has used all three of his subs so what you see is all you're going to get from Real Madrid tonight. Can they mount some pressure before full time?

This would be a huge win for Atletico Madrid. They've lost four of their last six games in all competitions as they've fallen off the pace in La Liga. But this would draw them level on 63 points with Real Madrid.
