A Bilbao free kick from the halfway line drifts straight out of play.

Aduriz runs into Mascherano. He wants a penalty but it obviously isn't one. They win a corner, and nothing comes of it.

Adriano crosses for Pedro, who slams a shot against the keeper. It bounces out to Sanchez, but he can't control the ball and Iraizoz saves again.

This is a bad game. A loose ball runs to Sanchez on the right and he slams in a shot across the keeper, but it's pushed away.

Alexis controls the ball on the right wing, but is closed out and the ball is out for a throw.

Bartra heads clear a cross from he right, but Bilbao retain possession.

Muniain chips a poor pass over the defence for Aduriz, but it's overhit and out of play.

Pedro takes a touch into the box and crosses for Sanchez at the back post, but he sends his shot against the crossbar. The ball comes out to Pedro who curls his shot over the bar.

Two good chances for Athletic. Aduriz has an overhead kick strike the post, it bounces out to Susaeta, but his volley is beaten away but Pinto.

Bilbao enjoying a spell of possession. Barca are largely sitting off them in midfield, but Sanchez makes a tackle in the midfield and finds Messi, who is then brilliantly tackled.

Sanchez and Aduriz have a really minor argument, based on who was to blame for the two of them brushing one another barely at all.

Barcelona are getting increasingly close.

Pedro sprints down the left wing and has a cross deflected behind for a corner on the left wing. Alexis heads down, into the arm of Bartra, and the ref blows for a free kick.

Moran has a hack on Iniesta in midfield.

Bartra with a cynical tug on Herrera as he broke towards Barca's half, and he's booked.

Laporte fouls Messi in midfield, and Barca take the free kick short, and start their endless passing. Messi finds Adriano on the edge of the box, who fires a low shot into the box and Balenziaga clears off the line.

Sanchez is hacked on the right wing by Herrera, and Barca have another free kick on the right. Dani Alves' low shot is stabbed out for a corner, there's a brilliant diagonal pass fron Iniesta, which Messi hooks in at the back post, but he's just offside.

Dani Alves is tripped on the right wing. Xavi curls in the ball, but it's headed away.

The corners come to nothing, two in quick succession.

Pedro returns the favour for Messi, but he collects the ball just to the left, inside the box, and shoots straight at the keeper to earn a corner.
