Well that was quite the performance by Barcelona. Manchester City may very well by shaking in their boots having watched that. Messi was back to his best, and Barca in general were back to their best. Iniesta was the conductor in the middle. He has to start on Tuesday night, you would think.

Let this be a warning to Manchester City, just in case they thought they were coming up against a toiling Barcelona side on Tuesday night. This is perhaps the best I've seen them play this season and they look back to their best just in time.

Tello picks up the ball on the left wing and drives at the opposition defence but when the time comes to pick out a pass, with Adriano overlapping, he hesitates and is tackled by a Rayo defender.

Decent save by Valdes! Rayo Vallecano enjoy a good spell of possession inside the Barcelona half, with Rochina creating space from himself 25 yards out. But when he zips a shot off at goal the keeper dives low to his left to save.

Tello has seen little of the ball since coming on, with is all the more incredible because Barcelona have dominated possession. Can they use his pace in the final five minutes of the game?

Alves breaks down the right side, with half of the pitch to run into, but in the end his cross into the penalty area was poor. He has Tello and Alexis waiting for the ball into the centre, but it never came.

Neymar beats about four Rayo Vallecano players on the edge of the box but passes up the chance to shoot on a number of occasions and in the end takes on too much and is challenged.

Fabregas is playing the part of pass-master general in the closing stages of this game, with Iniesta off the pitch. There's so much creativity in this team, it's quite sensational. Tuesday night should be great.

Great goalline clearance! Fabregas and Sanchez link up really well, with the Chilean acting as a wall for a return pass to Fabregas, who sets himself for a shot and shoots on goal. However Ze Castro is on the line and prevents it from becoming 6-0.

Barcelona are starting to slow down the pace of this game as they aim to pass out the finl 10 minutes of the game. I'm not really sure why. They could go for the throat here and really rack up an emphatic scoreline.

Indeed Martino decides to save Messi's legs for the game against Manchester City on Tuesday, with Tello coming on for the final 15 minutes of the game. His pace should stretch the Rayo Vallecano defence.
