Juanfran is shown a straight red for a horror challenge in the final minutes of this game. That will probably mean that he's out for the rest of the season through suspension.

Valencia are now resorting to a long ball game, lumping it forward from the back. Atletico will be happy with that. That's the sore of play they can deal with.

Now Simeone is conducting the Atletico supporters as they sing at the top of their voices in their corner of the Mestalla. This would be a huge result for Atletico. They only have two games after this.

Atletico are enjoying a good spell of possession at the moment. Costa is looking to get on the end of everything, but the Valencia offside trap is working well so far. Can it hold out? And more importantly can they find a goal themselves?

Great save by Guaita! Costa is slotted through on goal, with the Spanish international attempting to round the Valencia keeper. But he does well to stay big and make the save from Costa.

And Simeone is still going crazy on the touchline, with hand gestures and arm gestures and leg gestures. He's energetic, that's for sure.

Turan has struggled to get involved in the game since coming on. He plays a pass through to Costa but the Brazilian-born striker has too much ground to make up and the chance is gone. Pass needed to be better.

Sosa lines up a shot from the edge of the box, but he gets a bit too excited and slashes the ball high and wide of the goal. Whoops!

There's tension in the air here at the Mestalla. Atletico know how big this result could be for them in the grand scheme of the title race.

Piatti has to stretch to collect a pass on the edge of the box, but under pressure from Miranda and Godin he gets a shot away on goal. However, it's a tame one and Courtois can collect with ease.

Valencia are having a real go here. Atletico are starting to look a little concerned, as is Simeone on the sidelines. He hasn't sat down all game!

Once again, sorry for delay in updates. Just the one chance of note to tell you, with Feghouli firing a shot over the bar. Besides the header from Jonas, it's probably the closest Valencia have come to a goal.

You get the feeling that Valencia are ramping up the pressure here. Atletico are sinking deeper and deeper, with Godin starting to look a little ragged. Can the home side take advantage of that?

Good save! Jonas forces Courtois into an excellent save with a header at the back post. He just ghosted in there as the cross from the left wing came in.

Valencia are still controlling much of the possession, with Atletico defending deep and hitting on the break. Unless Valencia score, I don't expect the balance of the game to change much from that.

In much the same vein as Atletico's change, Valencia have given themselves added energy in the centre of the pitch with Feghouli coming on for Barragan, who had a relatively impressive game.
