FULL TIME: Atletico Madrid 2-0 Espanyol
92'
Suarez takes control of the ball 20 yards out and almost manages to wriggle his way through a packed Espanyol defence, but he can't quite keep it under his grip and the ball squirms away from him.

Atletico Madrid are just playing out time now. Espanyol might actually be quite pleased with their performance too. They certainly haven't disgraced themselves at the home of the champions.

Three minutes of stoppage time to be played.

Espanyol win their first corner kick of the match, but Canas flicks it over the bar at the back post after a whipped cross into the area from Sevilla. Decent chance for the former Swansea man.

On comes the man known at the Vicente Calderon as 'The Onion.' Not quite sure what that nickname implies. Punchlines on a postcard please.

Atletico Madrid sub Mario Mandzukic OFF, Cristian Rodriguez ON.

Griezmann hits the post! A pass in behind the Espanyol defence eventually falls to the Frenchman, who takes it past Casilla, but from a tight angle he manages to hit the outside of the near post.

Until this afternoon Espanyol had been four games unbeaten, but this was always going to be a very difficult game for them. In the end Atletico Madrid have had just too much quality for them.
84'
There's something missing about Griezmann this season. He's not quite the same player that he was at Real Sociedad, although that could be down to the fact that he's still settling at Atletico.

Griezmann gets in behind Espanyol on the blind side - although he might have been offside - but the challenge comes in from Lopez to prevent the Atleti attacker from getting the shot away.
81'
This will be Atletico Madrid's fifth win in their eight Liga games this season, which really isn't good enough if they are to defend their title this season. They need to build some momentum.
80'
Garcia and Griezmann combine very well in the penalty area, but the French attacker's shot is weak in the end, with Casilla getting down well to make the stop. Should have done better.
79'
So what do Espanyol have left? Atletico are starting to see the game out in the way that they do so often, meaning that the away side are seeing plenty of the ball in these closing stages.
78'
The home side are still looking for that diagonal pass into Mandzukic over the top, but it's such a hard pass to make and the striker has done little with it whenever it has reached him.
77'
The referee continues to keep his cards in his pocket, even with Simeone demanding one for a cynical foul from Colotto on Griezmann. I think that probably warranted a booking.
76'
Godin has been excellent for Atletico Madrid this afternoon. The ball is drawn to his head and has even shown some nice flicks and tricks as he has dealt with Garcia and now Stuani well.
75'
A terrible pass from Sevilla presents Griezmann with the ball 25 yards out. But after driving to the edge of the box he shoots into the shins of the defender. That was disappointing from the Frenchman.

That was a spot of head tennis in the penalty area from that corner, but the final touch was off Suarez, who actually stole Godin's goal on the line. They can argue over that later.
