Until this afternoon Espanyol had been four games unbeaten, but this was always going to be a very difficult game for them. In the end Atletico Madrid have had just too much quality for them.

There's something missing about Griezmann this season. He's not quite the same player that he was at Real Sociedad, although that could be down to the fact that he's still settling at Atletico.

The home side are still looking for that diagonal pass into Mandzukic over the top, but it's such a hard pass to make and the striker has done little with it whenever it has reached him.

The referee continues to keep his cards in his pocket, even with Simeone demanding one for a cynical foul from Colotto on Griezmann. I think that probably warranted a booking.

Godin has been excellent for Atletico Madrid this afternoon. The ball is drawn to his head and has even shown some nice flicks and tricks as he has dealt with Garcia and now Stuani well.
