Luis Suarez has confessed he once thought playing for Barcelona was beyond him.
The Uruguayan initially struggled to make an impact following his move from Liverpool to Camp Nou in 2014, but soon rediscovered his scintillating best to help Barca to the treble last season.
And he has pushed on this campaign, leading strike partners Lionel Messi and Neymar in the Barca goalscoring charts.
“The quality [Barca] have is amazing, plus how difficult it is to take the ball away from them. It’s a privilege to watch [the team] train,” Suarez told Onze Helden.
“I never imagined that I’d be Barca’s No 9, although you always dream of playing with the best players in the world, and today I’m doing that Leo Messi, Neymar, Iniesta, Busquets ...
“The truth is that, for a long time. I didn’t think I had the quality to play [for Barca].
“Since then, I’ve got used to and adapted to their short-passing game, ‘tiki-taki’, my team-mates, their playing styles and movements.
“I’ve fit into the team well and that makes me very happy.”
Barcelona are on course to repeat their treble antics in 2015-16, with the club nine points clear in La Liga, already in the Copa del Rey final, and gearing up for a Champions League quarter-final with Atletico Madrid.
