Can Athletic Bilbao create one last chance? They are camped on the edge of the opposition penalty area, but Atletico Madrid have numbers back and are holding firm.

Torres tries his best to burst through after a mistake by the Athletic Bilbao defence, but Laporte has the pace to catch him up and make the challenge. The wait for the 100th goal goes on.

Simeone wants to shore things up. Off comes the goalscorer Griezmann, and on comes Savic - who instantly signals to his teammates that Atletico Madrid are now playing with three centre-backs.

Benat has passed up a number of chances to get good set piece deliveries into the penalty area. That last one, from a corner kick, was especially terrible. Really disappointing.

That could be a costly booking for Atletico Madrid. Gabi has picked up a yellow card and will now miss the next match. He's so important right now with Tiago missing through injury.

The away side are starting to try and up the tempo as much as possible, as often as possible now. Atletico Madrid are keeping things firm at the back. This will be tough for Athletic.

Iraizoz was worried about that for just a moment or so. A spinning Torres cross looked like it might dip under the bar just at the very last moment, but he lets it go and gets away with it.

Benat passes up another chance from a set piece. Athletic Bilbao need to make the most of these chances. As things stand the home side are making it very difficult in open play.

Athletic Bilbao are seeing plenty of the ball at the moment, but they are struggling to make it tell in the final third. Atletico Madrid have shut up shop at the back now. They'll be hard to break down now.

The introduction of Torres has given Atletico Madrid real energy up front. That's what they have been lacking. Vietto doesn't give them enough of that. Neither does Jackson.

So can Athletic Bilbao now offer a response? They must feel somewhat hard done by not to be ahead, or at the very least level, but Atletico Madrid have shown their quality in glimpses.

Atletico Madrid barely deserve that lead, but that's what they are so good at. They are the best in Europe at grinding out results when they probably shouldn't. They have been second best tonight.
