What an incredible game of football. Keep in mind that Rayo Vallecano were leading 2-1 with 12 minutes of the match played, and yet they have finished up on the wrong end of a 10-2 thumping. A rare show of strength from Real Madrid this season, but keep in mind they had a two man advantage.

What a strange game this has turned into. All of a sudden there's a real urgency to Real Madrid's play even though they are SEVEN goals to the good. They want this 10th one badly.

That would have been spectacular! Kovacic meets a cross into the penalty area from Danilo on the scissor volley, but it flashes over the crossbar. That would have been great. We're still awaiting the 10th.

I can almost feel the entire football world willing this to reach 10. How often do you see a double figure scoreline? NEVER! That's why, for the greater good, this needs to happen.

YOEL SAVES AT HIS NEAR POST! Lucas does well to get to the byline, beating his man, but the Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper is alert to the low shot at his near post. Good stop.

Ronaldo seems to find himself in that spiral again of trying too hard to make things happen. Now that Bale is off the pitch it's as if he's taken it upon himself to do everything.

SHOT FROM RONALDO! This time he takes the ball down the left channel and into the penalty area, but he can only drag his effort wide of the far post. That was a chance for him.

That was a wild lash from Ronaldo! He took the ball down about 30 yards out and decided to smash it towards goal. He had nice swerve on it, but it lacked the direction.

As I was saying earlier, there is a sense that Bale is becoming the main man at Real Madrid. Whilst their results have been poor, the Welsh winger has actually played well.

Well, that's a strange one. Bale comes off and is replaced by... ARBELOA! Is Benitez mindful of not forcing Ronaldo into too big of a huff? The Bernabeu gives him an ovation.
