That result sees Real Madrid draw level with Barcelona at the top of La Liga after the Catalans' win over Osasuna earlier this evening. Of course, Zidane's side still have a game in hand. This was a line in sand for Real Madrid, with so many of their fringe players shining.

This could have gone horribly wrong for Zidane this evening. This is a difficult place to come, especially when you play a second string team, but Real Madrid have put down a marker.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Deportivo La Coruna 2 Real Madrid 6 (87 mins - Casemiro). There's a sixth goal for Real Madrid! The ball is played to Casemiro about 25 yards out and the Brazilian finds the back of the net with a low strike. Lux probably should have done better.

This result will see Real Madrid join Barcelona at the top of La Liga again. Of course, the Catalans claimed a big win of their own against Osasuna earlier this evening. It's tight up there.

This could prove to be the difference for Real Madrid this season. They have a strength in depth that Barcelona just cannot match. Look at the likes of Isco, Morata, Asensio, Vazquez...

There was a wobble for around 15 minutes of the first half when Deportivo La Coruna came close to fighting back, but other than that Real Madrid have put down a marker tonight.

This has been an exceptioal all round performance from this young Real Madrid team. This display will give Zidane a lot to think about when he has to pick a full strength side again.

It looks like Real Madrid are about to make a couple of changes. Zidane is looking to rest a few of his key players now that this game has been settled and the points are secured.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Deportivo La Coruna 1 Real Madrid 5 (77 mins - Isco). And that's the goal his performance warrants! Isco has been excellent this evening and he sweeps home a finish after a good run and cross into the area from Vazquez.

Isco has really shown what he can do this evening. Of course, we already knew what he could do, but it's becoming a bit ridiculous that he isn't a first team starter for Real Madrid.

Morata probably should have looked for the run of Vazquez at the back post rather than taking on the shot himself. The pass and run from Isco before the shot was quite sensational.
