Well, that was quite some performance from Barcelona. The scary thing for Deportivo La Coruna is that they could, and perhaps should, have scored many more. Messi himself could have had a hat trick. Instead, he failed to find the net. It was Suarez and Paulinho with the goals.

Messi might have finally given up on getting his goal tonight. He's hit the woodwork three times and had a penalty kick saved. He'll just have to save them for next week's Clasico.

Here comes Messi again, but this time he attempts to set up Paulinho with a through ball. But the pass was a little strong and the Brazilian just couldn't collect it. Chance gone.

Messi is still driving forward in search of a goal. This time, the Barcelona number 10 attempts to dribble into the box himself, but Deportivo just about scramble enough people back to make the tackle.

So this will set Barcelona up nicely for the Clasico next week. Against Real Madrid, they could feasibly seal the league title. Or at least knock their rivals out of contention for it.

OFF THE WOODWORK FOR A FIFTH TIME! Can you believe it? Barcelona have hit the woodwork again. This time it's Suarez who shoots at the near post, but can't beat Ruben.

Another change for Deportivo La Coruna, but this game is long gone for them.

These last 10 minutes have been all about getting Messi a goal. It's amazing that the Barcelona number 10 hasn't found the net, given the number of chances he has had.

ANOTHER SITTER! How hasn't Messi scored this evening? He was played clean though again and this time he gets everything all wrong and sends his shot high and wide.

Will Paulinho play in next week's Clasico? He's in form and he makes Barcelona a more dangerous team in the final third. Without him, the Catalans can be a little ponderous going forward.

There were a lot of raised eyebrows when Paulinho was signed by Barcelona in the summer, but he has proved to be a valuable addition. He has become a key player for them.

There's almost a sense that Messi is now labouring in an attempt to make amends for the opportunities he has spurned this evening. Is he maybe trying just a little too hard?
