Well, that was entertaining. Nine goals shared between the two teams and Ronaldo scored four of them. Girona gave Real Madrid a game for much of the contest, but they were found out at the back. Real also had defensive troubles of their own, it must be said.

That's an important goal for Bale. There is a lot of competition for places in this Real Madrid team at the moment, and so he needs to make the most of every chance he gets.

Isco is out of favour at the moment and so he has to make do with a late cameo off the bench. Speculation is already starting to mount that the playmaker could be off in the summer.

And Girona also make their final change of the game, with Aday coming on.

Bale has hardly seen the ball since coming off the bench. The Welshman was brought on to give Real Madrid additional threat in the final third, but Real are having to defend deep!

Real Madrid are doing their best to let Girona back into this game. They need Modric to take a grip of things in the centre of the pitch and restore a sense of calm to the game.

ALMOST A MIX UP! Varane got away with one there. The pass back from Varane was short, with Navas coming off his line. But Stuani couldn't get around the keeper to squeeze the shot on goal.

BIG GIRONA CHANCE! That was a real opportunity for Girona to close the deficit to just one goal. The cross from Granell was a good one, but Stuani just couldn't make the connection.

It's as if Real Madrid are inviting Girona back into this game. The Catalans are slinging cross after cross into the opposition penalty area, asking questions of their defensive line.

The pass from Ronaldo should have been better! Real Madrid had bodies flying forward for the counter attack, but Ronaldo's pass out to Marcelo was far too close to the keeper.
