Isco is struggling to get on the ball in the early exchanges of this game. That is a concern for a player whose entire game is all about having possession at his feet.

Bale was looking for Benzema in the middle, beating his man to get a cross into the Girona box. But it was too close to the goalkeeper, who had no trouble in making the catch.

It's been a pretty scrappy start to the game. A long ball was played forward for Portu, but Navas comes off his line to match the catch. That will do his confidence good early on in the game.

No chance of a kit clash this evening. Real Madrid are in their classic all white uniform, while Girona are wearing their home kit, which is predominantly red. Nice and easy.

There's still no Courtois in the Real Madrid team for this game. The Belgian is their marquee signing for the summer, but he is on the bench again, with Navas starting in his place.

These Real Madrid players will have bad memories of facing Girona last season. The Catalans will be looking to capture the spirit of that win again this evening. They'll have a real go.
