That was a lucky escape for Barcelona. Real Sociedad created the better chances and perhaps should have been out of sight by the time Suarez netted the equaliser for the Catalans. Valverde got away with one. His starting lineup wasn't good enough, especially in the midfield.

This result will see Barcelona extend their 100% start to the 2018/19 La Liga season. They showed their vulnerabilities this afternoon, but Valverde will be pleased with 12 points from 12.

Barcelona look to have weathered the storm. Real Sociedad gave it a real go and created a couple of golden opportunities for Juanmi, but they might have run out of steam.

Let that serve as a warning to Barcelona. Their marking was dreadful on that last Real Sociedad chance. They need to keep things tight at the back for these final five minutes.

JUANMI WAS OFFSIDE! What a chance that was. Juanmi was picked out at the back post by an excellent cross, but Ter Stegen makes the save from close range. He was offside, though.

It's Barcelona who are pressing for the next goal. They recognise that a third goal would truly kill off this game as a contest. The Anoeta does funny things to Barca players.

Is there one last chance in this match for Real Sociedad? They have been kept quiet since the second Barcelona goal. They are not making as much progress on the counter.

MESSI OVER! Just for a moment it looked like Rulli in the Real Sociedad goal was in trouble, but Messi's effort from about 20 yards out rises and flashes over the crossbar.

You could never argue that this was Dembele's best performance in a Barcelona shirt, but he has made the difference once again for the Catalans. He's becoming such a big player.

Here comes Vidal for Barcelona. The Chilean comes on to replace Dembele.

It could be argued that the introduction of Busquets is what really changed this game for Barcelona. They are so reliant on their midfield anchor. Is he as important as Messi?
