When it comes to derbies, Atletico Madrid have something of an inferiority complex. They haven’t won a league derby in five years and they haven’t won one at home in six years!

Atletico Madrid are still the favourites win the Spanish title having sat at the top of La Liga all season long, but Simeone’s side have allowed their form to dip of late. They have won just one of their last three! A win here would be huge.

It's been a good start to the match by Atletico Madrid and they now have a lead to protect. Real Madrid have been suffocated in possession in the opening 15 minutes of play.

The pitch just opened up for Llorente following the pass from Trippier and he made the right decision in playing the ball in behind for Suarez. There was no way he was missing.

The January transfer window closed without Real Madrid making a single signing. The club is carrying a lot of debt at the moment and there are questions over what they will do in the summer.

Real Madrid are now starting to come into the match, at least in terms of their share of possession. This is a bit more like what we expected from this game before kick off.

Atletico Madrid have certainly started the match the better of the two teams. Real Madrid are the ones sitting back and plugging the gaps in defence with the home team in control.
