Ilaix did so well to control that cross from Mingueza and then have the presence of mind and composure inside the box to set up Trincao when he could have taken on the shot himself.

Ilaix controlled at the back post and then set up Trincao for the shot and the Portuguese forward found the back of the net!

Ter Stegen makes the save! The Barcelona goalkeeper first palms a cross into the air. A partial clearance finds Battaglia on the edge of the box, but his low effort is saved by ter Stegen!

Mingueza is at right back for Barcelona this evening. He has been one of the succes stories of Barca's season, although he is much more comfortable in the centre of defence.

There have been some encouraging signs from Barcelona of late. Koeman always said this would be a transitional season for the Catalans and so it has proved over the campaign.

Alaves had an opportunity to create something from a corner kick there, but Edgar was penalised for a foul on Busquets. That looked to be soft. The Barca man made the most of it.

Injuries have really hindered Barcelona of late. Indeed, Koeman has a number of key figures on the sidelines at the moment with Araujo, Dest and Pjanic adding their names to the list in the last week.

Before the defeat to Sevilla, Barcelona had won six games in a row in all competitions. Koeman’s side have found some good form of late. There’s a balance to his team right now.

Duarte can continue for Alaves, so that is a relief for the away side. They are having to work hard to plug the gaps as Barcelona look to play their way through on goal.

There's the first booking of the night and it's shown to Martin for pulling back Messi on the break.

Injury to Duarte? This could be a bit of a problem for Alaves. Duarte may have picked up an injury in an attempt on a challenge on Trincao. Could the away side be forced into a change?

While Barcelona have had the better of the opening exchanges, they look vulnerable to the rapid counter attack. Alaves are willing to send players forward when they have the ball.

Barcelona come into this game on the back of a damaging defeat to Sevilla in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi final. How will the Catalans respond to that? They need a win.
