Real Madrid go top of La Liga, at least for the time being, with a convincing 4-1 win. This looked like being a test for Zidane and his men, but the brilliance of their attacking players got them over the line. Hazard made a big difference and Benzema rediscovered his best form.

That knock down from Rodrygo for the fourth goal might have been intended for Vinicius, but Benzema nipped in to beat the Brazilian to the ball and finish. Narrative overload!

This hasn't been a vintage Real Madrid performance, but there has been enough in the display of the attacking players to please Zidane. Benzema and Hazard in particular have played well.

Another change for the away side as Silva comes on for the final few minutes at Valdebebas.

Asensio can be pretty pleased with how he played today. His return has given Real Madrid an option on the right side of their attack, but Asensio is a left sided attacker by trade like so many of the players Zidane has in his squad.

Sevilla have been tipped as potential title challengers after winning the Europa League and finishing fourth in La Liga, but they too have suffered wobbles over the early part of the 2020/21 campaign.

Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid have all looked vulnerable over the first couple months of the season and so there is an opportunity for an outsider to mount a title challenge. This result will send Real Madrid top.

10 minutes to go and Real Madrid seem to have settled down since that Huesca goal. Modric had a half chance to score a fourth goal there, but the away side recovered the situation.

The last game Real Madrid played at home, they lost to Cadiz last week. The concerning thing for Zidane was that Cadiz were the better team and deserved to claim all three points. Very impressive. They have better much better today, but still some worries.

At least Zidane has options in the centre of midfield. The emergence of Valverde last season helped him to rotate Modric out of the side, although the Uruguayan has more recently been used on the right side.

Last season, Zidane leaned on his experienced core of players to get Real Madrid over the line in the Liga title race, but will that work in a season with such a packed season like this one?

Real Madrid had some trouble closing out wins against teams at home last season. Surely they won't have any problems here? They were cruising at 3-0 up. Surely this one is done?
