It's been a really confident, slick start from Diego Simeone's side, with lots of snappy passing and movement.

They thought Herrera was fouled by Luis Suarez as he tried to clear Carrasco's corner. The referee - and the VAR team - disagreed.

A win for Atletico would lift them from sixth to fourth. Osasuna, who start in ninth, will move up one place with victory.

Villarreal have moved above Atletico Madrid and Barcelona after winning 4-1 at Granada in the early game. Netherlands international Arnaut Danjuma, once of Bournemouth, scored a memorable hat-trick.

It's been an excellent season for Osasuna, who sit comfortably in ninth. That's despite a modest home record of two wins in 12 games. In fact, 20 of their 32 points have come away from home; only Real Madrid and Real Betis have picked up more on the road.

Their defeat to Levante in the week was a bit of a shocker, and Diego Simeone will expect a robust response this afternoon.

Atletico’s hopes of retaining the title are long gone. Instead they are in a lively scrap to finish in the top four. As things stand – with Villarreal 2-1 up away to Granada in the early game – there is only one point separating fourth and seventh.

Diego Simeone has made five changes to the side that lost miserably at home to the bottom club Levante in the week. Sime Vrsaljko, Hector Herrera, Yannick Carrasco, Luis Suarez and Joao Felix replace Rodrigo de Paul, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Thomas Lemar, Angel Correa and Matheus Cunha.

The Osasuna coach Jagoba Arrasate names an unchanged side, which is no great surprise after his team's impressive 3-0 win at Rayo Vallecano last weekend.
