With Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco battling it out to the title, everybody forgot plucky old Marseille. After buying half the young talent in France in summer, they had a disastrous start to the season and looked like they wouldn't even qualify for the Champions League. But a managerial sacking or two later, and they're in resurgent form, looking to charge towards third to keep their young team together. In their way, however, are PSG. Marseille need a win here in Paris.

And that is that. It's all over, and PSG gained what was in the end a fairly comfortable win over their rivals. They missed a lot of chances in the first half - not the least of which was that unbelievable effort from Lucas Moura - but Marseille started second-best and got worse as the game went on. The players they needed to show up like Gignac and Thauvin were anonymous, while Ibrahimovic and Cavani were very much there. PSG are clear favourites for the title now. Thanks for following.

Cavani appears to have a second, but it's correctly ruled out for a borderline offside call.

We're into injury time now, but this one is well and truly over.

PSG toying with Marseille - fine work from Van der Wiel sees him send in a low cross for Ibrahimovic, but instead of going for goal himself he tries to find Motta, who blazes miles over.

Double change for PSG - Javier Pastore on for the impressive Lucas Moura, while Yohan Cabaye replaces the excellent Matuidi.

Luxury football from Ibrahimovic, as PSG counter and he stops play before attempting to chip it into the far corner, but planting it on the roof of the net.

Marseille go close again! A corner is headed on at the near post, but fortunately for PSG Sirigu just about gets it clear. The second attempt comes to nothing.

Now the game's over, Marseille show up. Some decent interplay allows Valbuena to hit it from the edge of the area, but it's right along the ground and Sirigu is able to gather it.

Cavani is a proper centre-forward. That header was only ever going in.

GOAL! A month out, and he hasn't lost his touch. Edinson Cavani gets the goal on his return. Van der Wiel got down the right and hooked in a volleyed pass for the Uruguayan, and the Marseille defence were kind enough to give him the freedom of the area, before he showed Ibrahimovic how it should be done by powering a bullet header past the hapless Mandanda.

Gignac tries his luck from distance, and literally puts it out of the stadium, much to the amusement of the home fans.

Marseille look spent. It's going to take something very special to prevent a PSG victory here.

Imbula earns Marseille a corner, but the delivery is rubbish. They've only looked remotely threatening from set-pieces for most of the game, but they need to do better than that.
73'
Marseille on the attack again, but they can't even get into the PSG area - Blanc's men are as solid as ever, and the prospect of an equaliser is looking less and less likely.

Cavani is coming on, and it is indeed Lavezzi whom he replaces.

Ibrahimovic should have eleven assists. He plays Lucas Moura in plenty of space down the right, but the Brazilian takes an extra touch, making the angle too tight for him to finish, and he thumps his effort into the side-netting. PSG could be miles clear by now.

Ibrahimovic thumps it right into the wall. Marseille still in the game, if they can find a way of looking more dangerous going forwards, which at the moment, they really don't.

PSG opting to counter-attack now, and it's paying off. Marseille look clueless trying to break them down, and Lavezzi springs on the break, with Lucas Mendes shoving him over and going in the book. And now it's a free-kick to the hosts...

Gignac pounces to win the ball high up the pitch again, but with no support, he's reduced to shooting from 30 yards, but only finds the frame of Alex with his effort.

PSG really are quite incredible at getting back in numbers and organising themselves at a moments notice. Marseille win the ball high up the pitch, but despite that, Payet is soon crowded out and can't go anywhere.
