Both PSG and former club Sevilla confirmed the news.
Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Sergio Rico was hospitalised on Sunday morning following a bad fall during a horse riding accident.
The Spaniard had returned to his home town of Seville following last night's Ligue 1 title-winning draw with Strasbourg, a match during which Rico remained on the substitutes' bench.
Spanish media, including COPE, AS, and Marca, reported that Rico was in a serious condition. Cadena Ser reported that Rico was not conscious, while all sources indicated that medical examinations are ongoing.
The incident, which took place near the town of El Rocio, near Huelva in the south of Spain, apparently involved a runaway horse colliding with Rico's. While some sources indicated that Rico was struck on the head or neck during the fall, that has not yet been confirmed.
After reports of his hospitalisation became public, both PSG and Rico's former club Sevilla posted confirmations online.
PSG's statement read: "Paris Saint-Germain learned of the accident involving its player Sergio Rico on Sunday and remains in constant contact with his loved ones. The entire Red and Blue community offers them its full support."
Sevilla also offered their best wishes on Twitter, posting the following: "Lots of strength and speedy recovery, @sergiorico25"
Rico has been with PSG since leaving Sevilla in 2020, and spent part of last season on loan with Mallorca. He has also previously enjoyed a loan spell in the Premier League with Fulham.
