Fabio Grosso may no longer be in the dugout at Lyon, but it did little to change their fortunes after succumbing to another defeat, this time at the hands of Lens. The visitors produced a spirited display under the caretaker charge of interim boss Pierre Sage, but they remain rooted to the bottom of Ligue 1. Elsewhere, Nantes ended Nice's unbeaten start to the season with a 1-0 victory.

Lyon remain slumped at the bottom of Ligue 1 after suffering a 3-2 defeat against Lens at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.
In the first match since Fabio Grosso's dismissal, the visitors took the lead when Ernest Nuamah teed up Jake O'Brien, who produced a brilliant finish past Brice Samba in the 15th minute.
However, O'Brien was at fault for the Lens equaliser when his short back-pass was intercepted by Wesley Said, who took full advantage and fired the ball past Anthony Lopes.
Alexandre Lacazette had a chance to restore the visitors' lead after meeting Diego Moreira’s delivery, but Samba stood firm.
The hosts took a 2-1 lead seven minutes after the restart from the penalty spot, with Skelly Alvero penalised for a challenge on David da Costa in the box.
Przemyslaw Frankowski stepped up to score with the subsequent spot-kick, but Pierre Sage's side hit back again through O’Brien in the 72nd minute.
The Irishman capitalised on some sloppy defending to slot the ball home at the back post to wipe out Lens' lead.
But it was the hosts that scored the decisive fifth goal with Frankowski's second of the game, as the Pole latched onto Ruben Aguilar’s searching delivery and shot past Lopes just two minutes later.
Lyon could not find another equaliser, despite the hosts being reduced to 10 men when Florian Sotoca was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Nicolas Tagliafico.
The result means Lens have extended their unbeaten Ligue 1 run to 10 games and are sixth with 22 points from 14 games, leaving them in the Europa Conference League qualification berth.
Lyon are back in action away at Marseille on December 6, while Lens play away at Montpellier two days later.
Meanwhile, Nantes stopped Nice from moving to the top of Ligue 1 with a 1-0 victory at the Beaujoire Stadium.
It was the perfect start for Jocelyn Gourvennec as interim manager, as Florent Mollet scored the only decisive goal of the game to move the hosts up to eighth in the table.
Mollet struck in the 25th minute when Marcin Bulka parried Moussa Sissoko's intial strike into his path, and fired in on the rebound.
Nantes could have added to their advantage in the second half when Douglas Augusto's ferocious strike from distance cannoned off the woodwork.
It was a very disappointing night for Francesco Farioli's side, who remain a point adrift of league leaders Paris Saint-Germain, who will extend their lead at the top when they face Le Havre on Sunday.
Up next for Nice is a match at home to Reims on December 10, while Nantes travel to PSG a day earlier.
