Dzeko made himself popular with Manchester City fans by having a dig at local rivals United: "I hear a lot about the fans and I hear also that most of the people from Manchester are Manchester City fans."

Mick McCarthy has warned of the danger of Wolves concentrating too much on snuffing out the threat of Dzeko as his side look to spring another surprise result at City: "I don't think for one minute we can just be looking after him when they have a team of stars. Dzeko doesn't have a kick and we are 3-0 down. It would be great that wouldn't it!"

With one hand it giveth, the other it taketh away... Dzeko's arrival has already seen Roque Santa Cruz rejoin former club Blackburn on loan, and now reports claim that Emmanuel Adebayor could be on his way to Real Madrid.

If City win today they will go top of the league for at least a day, ahead of local rivals United's trip to Tottenham tomorrow. Wolves, currently out of the relegation zone on goal difference alone, could drag themselves three points clear of the bottom three if they can win here and the teams below them all lose this weekend.

Dzeko scored 66 goals in 111 Bundesliga matches for Wolfsburg. His mammoth haul of 26 goals in 32 league games in the 2008-09 season fired the Wolves to the German title.

The big team news is that City's new £27m signing Edin Dzeko goes straight into Roberto Mancini's side. The Bosnian comes with a massive reputation and it will be fascinating to see how he fits into the English game.
