PENALTY TO BLACKPOOL!

Newcastle are attacking in waves at the moment.

This really is a typical fast and furious Premier League clash. Not easy for referee Lee Mason at the moment. Tackles flying in.

Keinan, a Blackpool debutant, has clashed with Carroll off the ball and the referee is having words with the both of them.

Nolan has picked up a knock in that collision too. Looks like an ankle.

Carroll hoists a high cross in from the right and, with Nolan and Gutierrez waiting at the far post, the referee blows for a foul on the keeper Gilks by Nolan. Not sure there was much in that.

Adam forces a corner on the left for Blackpool

Goal disallowed for Blackpool! Varney puts the ball beyond Harper but he was a couple of yards offside when he received the pass.

Blackpool are a little impatient in possession so far, wasting the ball whenever they get it.

It's all Newcastle now as defender Enrique has an effort blocked from just inside the penalty area.

Newcastle feeling their way into this one now.

Great play by Newcastle again, this time by Routledge who runs onto a return pass from Perch, crosses deep for Nolan from the right but the ball is flicked away by Evatt at the crucial moment.

That corner finds its way to Coloccini who tries a cheeky backheel towards goal which deflected off Varney, but Gilks gathers again.

Joey Barton tries to catch Gilks out in the Blackpool goal with a shot when a cross was expected. He wins a corner following a deflection off the Blackpool wall.

But it's Blackpool crafting the better of the chances so far.

The ball is whipped in from the Blackpool right and Ormerod completely misses the ball with his attempted header. Thankfully for him he was offside.

That should have been the breakthrough for the visitors.

Brilliant chance for DJ Campbell who finds himself through on goal after Barton got caught in possession. But Campbell spurns the golden opportunity and, in truth, never looked like he was going to score. Harper did well to also save a second shot from Ormerod.

Nice play by Newcastle as Carroll drops deep to find Enrique down the left, whose cross can't quite find it's target. But impressive play.

But Gilks plucks the cross from the sky.
