HALF TIME. United threaten from the subsequent free kick as Welbeck heads just wide, but that is half time and we are level at 1-1 thanks to goals from Jelavic and Rooney.

Distin is the first name in the book for a push on Valencia. It is rather harsh though as there wasn't all that much contact between the two players.

An interesting attempt from Jelavic. Pienaar with a cross from the right and the Croatian attempts a scissor-kick on the stretch, only succeeding in sending his effort high into the air.

Everton advance through Osman through the centre of the pitch but his shot is weak and dribbles into the arms of De Gea.

Fergie is losing it with the fourth official for some reason. The cameras pan down to reveal he is wearing trainers, like a youth out to cause trouble on a high street.

GOAL! Manchester United 1-1 Everton! Rooney scores against his former side to draw United level. Carrick pokes the ball wide to Evra and the Frenchman slips a pass to Nani, who produces a wonderful inswinging cross from the left. He finds Rooney who turns the ball past Howard from close range with his head. A lovely goal.

A hint of controversy here as Rafael is brought to ground by a clumsy challenge from Osman right on the edge of the box, but United's appeals go ignored.

Stat from Opta: "Everton had scored just two goals in their last seven league trips to Old Trafford, and had failed to net in their last three."

Evans is the victim of a poor challenge from Jonny Heitinga as the Dutchman catches his right boot. Evans hobbles off for treatment.

United look for an immediate response and Scholes almost levels! The ball pops out to him from a corner and his shot takes two deflections before Howard makes a wonderful save to claw the ball out and then grab it at the second attempt.

GOAL! Manchester United 0-1 Everton! Jelavic scores his fifth goal in nine league games! Hibbert delivers a deep cross from the right and Jelavic produces a glorious cushioned header at the back post from the tightest of angles that soars back over the head of De Gea and nestles just inside the far post.

Unlucky from Nani. He takes a 50-yard pass from Carrick in his stride before trying to get away from Tony Hibbert with a backheel. However, the ball runs out of play.

Nani with a vicious cross from the left and Howard is alert enough to save at his near post. That could have caught the Everton keeper out.

United will know the threat Gibson poses from range and after finding a pocket of space 25 yards from goal he unleashes a shot that skews away from goal.

Stat from Opta: "In this season’s reverse fixture, Everton had 19 shots to United’s seven, but the Red Devils won 1-0."
