Arsenal's form since the turn of the year has been decidedly ropey but a 7-1 thumping of Blackburn last time out ended a run of four games without a win. The Gunners have won only two of their 12 league visits to the north east though, and Sunderland have lost only once in 10 at home. This could be a close one.

Sunderland are, remarkably, the form side in the Premier League with eight wins and two draws in 12 games since Martin O'Neill took over. They have risen to eighth place as a result and face an Arsenal side only seven points above them in sixth.
