Swansea manager Laudrup on his side’s chances today: “I don’t know if we’re favourites, but I don’t think we should be against a big club away from home. They did not do great last season and have not started well, but they had a good draw at Newcastle before the break. So it becomes a very important test for us – and every time we have these tests we will be better for the experience.”

Lambert on his new signings: "The Premier League is unforgiving. The opportunity is there for them, now they have to go and do it. You have to have someone who has the belief in you to give you that opportunity. I was in the same boat myself as a player. I needed someone to give me an opportunity, and you will never know until you do that. I'm all for giving people opportunities to do the business."

Manager Michael Laudrup appears to have picked up where Brendan Rodgers left off as Swansea continue to exhibit a style of football that is pleasing on the eye.

Swansea have started the season strongly, with new signing Michu’s four goals helping the club to seven points from three games.

Aston Villa have picked up just one point from three matches under new manager Lambert. The former Norwich boss is attempting to turn Villa into a more fluent passing unit and few teams typify this approach more than today’s opponents Swansea.

Ben Davies and Alan Tate come into the Swansea back four as Michael Laudrup is forced to shuffle his back with Neil Taylor out for the season with a broken ankle sustained in the draw with Sunderland and Chico Flores starting a three-match ban after being sent-off in that game. New signing Ki Sung-yueng is named amongst the substitutes, with Danny Graham flanked by Wayne Routledge and Nathan Dyer, and Michu playing in a withdrawn role.

For Aston Villa, new recruits Christian Benteke, Ashley Westwood, Joe Bennett and Jordan Bowery all start on the bench as Paul Lambert names an unchanged side from the one which drew 1-1 at Newcastle before the international break.
