With Leigertwood switching off, N'Diaye is fed by Johnson but bearing down on goal he slices well wide. That was the chance to win it.

Graham, who played against Sunderland on Tuesday, comes on for his debut for the visitors. Sessegnon makes way for Sunderland.

Sessegnon exchanges passes with McClean to set the substitute away but his cross is laboured. Clear-cut chances at a premium here.

Blackman is definitely a willing runner up front but this time he is caught on his heels as Bramble steps in to clear.

From the resulting corner, Mariappa gets across his marker to head Harte’s corner onto the crossbar. So close and on second inspection that should have been a corner – fine save from Mignolet.

Pogrebnyak, who will be shortly replaced, does well to hold the ball up and finds McAnuff in the corner but he gets the ball stuck under his feet and the chance is gone.

With McClean on, Sunderland have a little bit more balance. N'Diaye goes down under the challenge of Kelly in the box and is insistent that he should have a penalty but referee Mason waves away the appeals.

Reading break but the through-ball for Le Fondre has too much on it.
