Good afternoon and welcome to our LIVE commentary of today’s Premier League fixture between Sunderland and Southampton from the Stadium of Light.

The full-time whistle is blown. Sunderland are held to a draw. Both sides will surely focus their attention on Wigan's midweek game with Arsenal as they look to secure their Premier League safety. Thanks for joining us today.

Rodriguez battles with Rose as Puncheon slips in his teammate. Rose goes down in the box and the referee blows the whistle, much to the annoyance of Rodriguez who thought the defender had slipped.

Incredible save from Mignolet!! Rodriguez’s chipped pass over the top is controlled well on the chest by Lambert. The striker sends a first-time volley at goal from a tight angle which looks to be finding the far corner only for the Sunderland keeper to get a firm hand on it.

What a waste. Southampton’s promising move is brought to an end as Lambert is caught offside following Ward-Prowse’s clever pass.

Rose looks to find Graham with a long ball but the striker is given offside. The Saints play on and look to attack through Shaw down the left. The youngster switches play into the path of Clyne who bursts into the penalty area before losing control of the ball.

The tension is really rising here. This could go either way. Will either side step forward and grab the goal that will secure their side Premier League safety?

Good pressure from Southampton. They stroke the ball around well on the edge of the penalty area, with Ward-Prowse pivotal. The substitute links with fellow sub Puncheon again as the goalscorer finds some space on the right and cross. O’Shea’s clearance falls to Ward-Prowse on the edge of the penalty area but the shot is off target.

The ball is sent high into the penalty area. Davis is all over Mignolet who fumbles. Fortunately for the keeper the referee blows the whistle to award the hosts a free kick.

A very promising run from Shaw here as Southampton turn the screw having got that leveller. Puncheon's goal has really quietened down the home crowd.

Sunderland really looked to be taking the initiative following their opener, but the equaliser has stopped them in their tracks now. The intensity isn’t there anymore.

As it stands, these two sides will hope that Wigan lose to Arsenal on Tuesday so they can avoid any last day drama.

Jay Rodriguez has gone into the book for dissent. Confirmation that Luke Shaw was also booked for that challenge on N'Diaye a few moments ago.

GOAL FOR SOUTHAMPTON!! What a substitution from Pochettino. Puncheon is the man to get a goal after Lambert and Ward-Prowse link through the middle. The latter gets in the box and crosses from the left where Puncheon arrives to head an effort into the chest of Mignolet. The keeper’s not helped out by his defence as Punceon secures the equaliser from 4 yards.

Johnson whips the free kick in from the right and the ball somehow goes through the entire set of bodies in the penalty area. Goal kick.

Sebastian Larsson, who’s not been at his best this afternoon, is replaced by David Vaughan.

It’s all going Sunderland’s way at the moment. N’Diaye is hauled to the floor by Shaw and the hosts have a free kick in a promising position here.

Adam Lalana and Jack Cork are replaced by Jason Puncheon and James Ward-Prouse.

The hosts keep the pressure up. The home fans are on their feet and are applauding every touch. Bardsley receives the ball 30 yards from goal and is urged to ‘SHOOOOT’ by the home fans. He does so, but the shot is cleared.

There’s been a much more confident look about Southampton in this second half. They’re playing with a sense of purpose and are on the attack again.
