Gus Poyet said he is delighted he has a full squad to choose from: "When I signed my contract here, there was a question mark about (Steven Fletcher) to be fit or not in the next few weeks, and then he has played every game for me. We are trying to make sure that we use him as much as we can, but at the same time, we keep him fit so we don't lose him for a while."

Steve Bruce said today’s opponents will be buoyed by their win last weekend: “If you're going to win one you get a win against Newcastle and it gets you off to the right footing. It has to be instant because you don't get that time anymore. We're kidding ourselves if we think you'll get three or four years. It's more like three or four months, even three or four weeks sometimes.”

Hull are aiming to avoid a third consecutive league defeat, but they are unbeaten at home this season

While Poyet has picked an attacking side, it's the defence which has let them down this season. They have conceded 21 league goals, more than any other top-flight side.

Sunderland have won the last six meetings between these sides - and Hull have scored just twice in those six games.

The Tigers are without Alex Bruce through injury. There is no Danny Graham as he is inegligible against his parent club - the striker has yet to break his duck this season
