Good afternoon and welcome to Eurosport's LIVE text coverage of a what promises to be a mouthwatering clash between English football's two most successful clubs - Liverpool versus Manchester United at Anfield.

The teams are out and we are just minutes away from kick off. Liverpool marking 100 years since Bill Shankly's birth (tomorrow) with a Kop mosaic. Can they do it with a win? Or will Moyes grab that first success at Anfield?

STAT ALERT: The last 11 league clashes between Liverpool and United home and away has produced 36 goals. Indeed, only once in the last 15 league meetings has there been a draw. That came at Anfield in October 2011 when the game finished 1-1.

Slight concern for Liverpool as Sturridge was seen talking to Reds physio Chris Morgan after clutching his left thigh in the warm up. He seems content enough to continue but it may be one to keep an eye on when the real action gets underway.

More pre-match natter. This time, Reds skipper Steven Gerrard has called for the suspended Luis Suarez to give Liverpool another year.

United boss David Moyes is anticipating a hot reception from the Kop as he looks to claim a first ever win at Anfield. He said: "I understand the rivalry, and though I did once get a round of applause at Anfield, that was during a ceremony for Hillsborough. All the other times I've been I've had stick from the home fans, and it will be back to that with United. I'd love to have a much better record at Anfield, but I think most people appreciate I was up against some pretty good Liverpool sides."

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is relishing his involvement in an encounter rich in tradition and history. He said: "Over many years Liverpool v Manchester United was the game everyone watched on the television, with all the great players of the generations there. Liverpool dominated it for many years. The passion for the game is still there. Obviously they are the champions and we're fighting to catch them."

As for Liverpool, Martin Skrtel will partner Daniel Agger at the heart of the defence after Kolo Toure picked up an injury in the Capital One Cup win over Notts County in midweek. The Reds are still without Luis Suarez through THAT lengthy suspension, so the in-form Daniel Sturridge will lead the line with support from Philippe Coutinho and Iago Aspas.

As expected, Wayne Rooney ruled out for the Red Devils with a head injury. David Moyes makes two changes to the team that drew with Chelsea. Ashley Young replaces Antonio Valencia on the wing, while Ryan Giggs comes in to make his 47th career appearance against Liverpool in place of Rooney. Robin Van Persie and Danny Welbeck will lead the line.
