Campbell looks like he has won a corner but the referee gives a goal-kick – unlucky there but the forward still needs more support.

Lallana now finds Davis inside the box but Fabio makes a great block.

Cardiff continue to be wasteful in possession – this time it is Fabio who gives it away. Lambert feeds Lallana but Caulker just gets to it before the England man can shoot.

Lallana lifts the ball to the back post to Chambers but the right-back just can’t get enough on the header and Marshall collects.

The Saints play the ball well through midfield but Cardiff are sitting rigidly deep. While that tactic is frustrating the Saints, it leaves Campbell so isolated when they do win it back.

Theophile-Catherine is in down the right but runs out of pitch, and that's a goal-kick. That is a bit better from Cardiff who just haven’t been in this game.

Cardiff have a free-kick just inside the Southampton half and load the box. The delivery is too lofted and straight and Lambert rises to head clear.

Shaw now throws over a cross but it is too deep.

Davis looks for Lambert in behind but Caulker is alert to the danger to head clear.

Ramirez rises at the back post to try to head a deep cross but is eased off it.

Cardiff are sitting very, very deep at the moment. Game plan looks to try to hit their hosts on the break. Dangerous game.

As you would expect, Southampton starting in the ascendancy but there has been very little in the form of clear cut chances thus far.

It emerged on Friday that chairman Mehmet Dalman has complained to the Premier League that Cardiff's starting line-up was leaked to their opponents ahead of the match.
