That Chelsea midfield looks pretty darn strong with the addition of Cesc Fabregas. But the key player may well be Nemanja Matic, who was in brilliant form at the tail-end of last year and gives great cover to the back four. Diego Costa is another Mourinho addition - the Brazilian-Spaniard scored 27 goals to propel Atletico Madrid to the La Liga title.

He also came out with a lot of corporate-speak.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche: "We've got to build on last season. We like to press, we like to play football. The standard of opposition has gone up considerably, but we don't want to go too far away from what we're about."

Former Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez is backing his old team. Interestingly, the Southampton star has a picture of the Smiths as his Twitter cover photo. Or maybe that is not that interesting.

Chelsea have not lost their first league fixture since a 2-1 defeat at Coventry in 1998, and Jose Mourinho has won all five of his opening-day fixtures as Chelsea manager. Burnley fans will fondly remember their first home fixture in 2009, when a Robbie Blake strike gave the Clarets a 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche favours a pressing game, so the two strikers Ings and Jutkiewicz will be expected to a put a shift in on John Terry and Gary Cahill.

Burnley had the best defence in the Championship last year, but struggled when they faced Premier League sides in the cup competitions. They were beaten 4-3 by Southampton in the FA Cup and lost 2-0 at home to West Ham in the Capital One Cup.

Jose Mourinho on telling Petr Cech that Courtois will start at Turf Moor. "Petr is a fantastic professional and he behaved that way when I told him this morning. For sure he will fight for his place."

The big news from the Chelsea team-sheet is that 22-year-old Thibaut Courtois starts in goal, with manager Jose Mourinho preferring the Belgian over Petr Cech.

The Burnley starting XI is as expected, with record signing Lucas Jutkiewicz starting alongside Danny Ings up front in a 4-4-2 formation.
