That Chelsea midfield looks pretty darn strong with the addition of Cesc Fabregas. But the key player may well be Nemanja Matic, who was in brilliant form at the tail-end of last year and gives great cover to the back four. Diego Costa is another Mourinho addition - the Brazilian-Spaniard scored 27 goals to propel Atletico Madrid to the La Liga title.

Chelsea have not lost their first league fixture since a 2-1 defeat at Coventry in 1998, and Jose Mourinho has won all five of his opening-day fixtures as Chelsea manager. Burnley fans will fondly remember their first home fixture in 2009, when a Robbie Blake strike gave the Clarets a 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche favours a pressing game, so the two strikers Ings and Jutkiewicz will be expected to a put a shift in on John Terry and Gary Cahill.

Burnley had the best defence in the Championship last year, but struggled when they faced Premier League sides in the cup competitions. They were beaten 4-3 by Southampton in the FA Cup and lost 2-0 at home to West Ham in the Capital One Cup.
