Southampton have had a late-season slide, losing their last two games to Sunderland and Leicester. They are just a point ahead of eighth-placed Swansea and at real risk of dropping out of Europe. Seventh will do it as long as today's opponents Villa do not win the FA Cup final.

Gazzaniga comes out confidently to claim a long ball into the box under pressure from Benteke. Fonte gets clattered, sandwiched between the two, but after rubbing the back of his head he'll be okay to carry on.

Mane looks like he is clear again but is just caught offside.

Alan Hutton's inclusion as a left-back is looking like a very poor decision, as Southampton are getting joy down their right-hand side. They've scored four and should have five were it not for an incorrect offside call.

GOAL! Southampton 4-0 Aston Villa. (Long) Another goal for Southampton, another catastrophe for Aston Villa's defence. Pelle is played clean through and Shay Given can only parry his interception out to Long for a tap-in.

GOAL! Southampton 3-0 Aston Villa. (Mane, hat-trick) Incredible! Mane has a three minute hat-trick as Aston Villa's defence capitulates once again. It's a very good finish this time as he sidefoots the ball beyond Shay Given after Shane Long's cut-back.

GOAL! Southampton 2-0 Aston Villa. (Mane) Mane makes it two and it's another disaster for Ron Vlaar! The Senegalese forward picks up the pieces as Vlaar plays his packpass to Given too short and Long intercepts, allowing Mane to tap home.

GOAL! Southampton 1-0 Aston Villa. (Mane) Sadio Mane scores and he deserves plenty of credit, surging past Ron Vlaar tapping in the rebound from Shay Given after the goalkeeper came out to intercept.

First chance for Aston Villa. Delph slides a pass down the left-hand channel of the penalty area for Benteke but rather than shooting across goal with his left foot he tries to bend it inside the near post with the outside of his right foot. It's a bit too elaborate and goes wide.

Pelle goes close! Bertrand plays a well time ball over the Aston Villa defence from the left-back spot and the Italian drives into the box only to have his low shot smothered by Shay Given.

Southampton have their first extended spell of possession, working it from left-to-right before Hutton intercepts.

Pelle slides the ball into the net after being played through on goal but to his disgust he is flagged for offside. It's a bad call, as Ron Vlaar was level with the Italian.

It's end-to-end stuff as Delph drives at the heart of the Southampton defence before Clyne intercepts and feeds it to Long who wins a freekick midway inside the Aston Villa half.
