Sam Allardyce on Nene: "He’s an intelligent player, good technically, finds space. He just has to cope with the physical aspect of the game and if he can do that, the talent and experience is definitely there and since he’s travelled from Brazil to join us, so is the desire."

So the breaking news is that new signing Nene starts on the bench for West Ham as Sakho and Valencia continue up front. Andy Carroll and Carlton Cole are missing through injury and Morgan Amalfitano is banned. Palace captain Mile Jedinak makes his first start under Alan Pardew, having returned from a sore ankle. James McArthur has recovered from a thigh problem and returns to the bench but Palace are without Fraizer Campbell, Yaya Sanogo and Marouane Chamakh through injury.
