Galloway plays the ball infield from the left as Everton look to launch a counter but miscommunication between Lukaku and Deulofeu sees the move break down, and Bournemouth's resulting foray forward culminates in Ritchie firing the game's first shot on target into the arms of Howard.

The players are out on the pitch at the Vitality Stadium and kick-off is minutes away. Just enough time for an interesting stat about the visitors...

Here's how Everton will line up at the Vitality Stadium, with Arouna Kone continuing his new career as a false left winger. Presumably they won't stand so close together on the pitch...

Chelsea's ongoing crisis and Liverpool's slow start means the Premier League's top four race could scarcely be more open, and Roberto Martinez is upbeat about Everton's chances: "We have arguably the strongest squad we have had for a long time in terms of numbers and players in good moments of form. The understanding and tempo we have in possession comes from the tempo in training. That comes from the competition we have for places and everyone pushing themselves to the maximum to get into the starting line-up."

Everton's recent resurgence has been powered in large part by the exciting young trio of Romelu Lukaku, Ross Barkley and Gerard Deulofeu. Lukaku has hit seven goals in his last seven matches, while Barkley has already been directly involved in nine goals this season (five goals, four assists). Bournemouth's defence - the leakiest in the Premier League - could be in for a long afternoon.
14:30
Bournemouth, ravaged by injury after a promising start to the season, are now winless in their last seven Premier League games and surrendered a two-goal lead on the road to struggling Swansea City last time out. Yet boss Eddie Howe remains optimistic.
"The last two games have been right up there as our best performances for a long, long time," he insisted earlier this week. "We just haven't found those goals when we've needed them, but we are confident that they will come. As long as the work rate and effort is as high as it is at the moment, then I can only seen this team improving."
14:25
This is the first ever league meeting between these two sides, though Everton have won all three of the previous cup encounters. Roberto Martinez's men will be confident of extending that dominance, having hit 10 goals in two matches against Sunderland and Aston Villa - the other teams mired alongside Bournemouth in the Premier League's relegation zone - in recent weeks.
