Glorious chance for Kone to kill the match off after Elliot stops from Lennon, but he lifts the ball over the bar. Should perhaps have been a second.

Shelvey has a go from distance, but another solid enough stop from Robles.

Perez just failing to get himself on the end of a cross as Robles comes off his line to collect with some ease.

Sissoko tries a little through ball, but the pass runs straight into the arms of Joel Robles in the Everton goal. He has done little so far with this Newcastle attack toiling to threaten.

Newcastle also deciding to alter their side as Rolando Aarons replaces Paul Dummett.

Changes at the break as Kone takes over from Lukaku for the home team.

There goes the whistle for the break. Everton lead 1-0, and are very deserving of their lead with seven shots on goal compared to only two by the visiting side.

Newcastle don't really look like they are going to find a way back at the moment it must be said.

Steve McClaren must be concerned about what he is watching as Mbemba is forced to depart the scene to be replaced by Jamaal Lascelles for the visiting side.

Mbemba needing some treatment for an ankle knock out there. Suffered the injury making that block.

Chance for Lennon to add a second goal, but Mbemba does superbly well to make the block. Had to get that right and did it. Could easily be 2-0 to the home side.

Joel Robles can't really complain in the Everton goal. He has done little or nothing in the opening 37 minutes of this contest.
